Ubisoft's long-awaited, Beyond Good & Evil 2 was one of the biggest surprises of E3 2017 conference. The game is being developed on Voyager, a new proprietary engine that the team at Ubisoft Montpellier spent three years building specifically for the game. This breakthrough technology is capable of generating vast worlds, tailor-made territories with rich, gorgeous environments, and robust online systems.
In an interview with French website Le Point, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked not only about the company’s recent move to its new 12 million euro ultra-modern studio in Montpellier, but also about the highly anticipated Beyond Good And Evil 2.
“The quality of life in this region can be an asset to bring the best talent,” he said. “Montpellier is a very important world studio for us, which has shown the way to innovation thanks to Rayman. Our teams are currently working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is likely to have a major impact on video games. Designed by Michel Ancel, this title which aims to revolutionize adventure games and open world is particularly expected by players.”
Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and published by Ubisoft. It is a prequel to Beyond Good & Evil released in 2003. Its development was characterized in the media by uncertainty, doubt, and rumors until it was officially announced at Ubisoft's E3 2017 conference, although no release window or target platform had been revealed.
The game will have single-player and cooperative player support, even as a single-player, the player can participate in a shared universe, with some events affecting all players at the same time. Beyond Good and Evil 2 will require an internet connection to play both single-player and multiplayer.
